The theme came from her visit to Aleppo, Syria, where she participated in the International Women Art Festival 2010. The positive feedback for her work which turns the traditional relation between man and woman upside down, came as a surprise to her. The audience associated her work with a fairytale.

As a result Schippers decided to dig deeper into the Oriental Fairytale of 1001 Arabian nights. She found a totally different image of women than she had expected. She found the contradiction between the active, sensual Sherazade  and the passive dreaminess of Snowwhite fascinating. In Snowwhite & Sherazade she places these two female images opposite each other to encourage a dialogue between the East and West. She does this with two Video Installations and Stills from the Videos, which look like Impressionist paintings.

Technical details about the Stills

The stills are printed in aluminium by a new technical process and have a polyester coating, that protects the stills from scratches, uv-light and moisture. At the back of the picture an aluminium hanging system is attached. Available in 60-34 cm and 25-14 cm.
